DEVIAN TOUR BLOG PART 2 - FINNISH EM' ALL!
HAMMER BATTALION NORTH TOUR 2009

28th of February - Tampere - Finland
Venue: Yo-Talo

Tomas:
Woohooo! The show is delayed 3 hours and no Internet connection... Me, Carl, Emil and Joinus start the day with exploring the city, the venue is located in the center of the city. Since Emil got so fucking wasted the last night of the last tour he forgot all his winter clothing in the gypsy bus, so Emil got so fuckin happy when he found this nice winter jacket and the store is selling it out for half price. Next stop - Mcdonalds!!!



Emil:
For the first time Tomas isn’t lying, I was happy to find a winter jacket, I needed one badly in this cold Finland! Another smart thing I did was to fuck up my knee by just leaning on one leg and due to the pain I just fell to the floor...fuck...I’m getting old....



Carl:
Yo-Talo is a rather small venue. Small, packed club gigs can be really intense so I try use the situation during the gig and run out into the crowd and start to headbang together with the crazy Finnish crowd.



Legion:
Good show tonight, in our second song "Assailant" the crowd is up on their feet and in front of the stage going completely Finnish - and that’s loud and vivid to all of you who hasn’t been to this Metal worshipping country. Great one tonight! I pour my first Screwdriver as toxic as nuclear waste enjoying the Belphegor show from stage side and hanging out with people from the crowd. Unleashed gets on to destroy the place and me and Helmuth from Belphegor is toasting, hanging out and having a good time when this really annoying guy starts to get on our nerves. He just won’t stop mouthing off and insulting us and us both feel our mood is going from "Whatever" to "Fuck you douchebag". "You fucking faggots run off and get me another beer now" he’s yelling waving provocative with his fists. "Go fuck yourself cunt" I yell back going at him but Helmuth is already there, grabbing the guy and throwing him to the wall. Security breaks up the situation on the spot and throws the guy out the door. The party continues and ends much later on the buss. A great get go in Finland!!
Joinus:
I got tired of swimming so I decided to go back on the tour and do some metal way of living!!!




1st of March - Helsinki - Finland
Day Off

Tomas:
We started the day with some breakfast at Subway and sat down there until nature had its cause. After that we went to a bar to grab some beers. My first impression of Helsinki is that people are very friendly and very good in English.



Legion:
Hell yeah today is a great day. Children of Bodom are playing the ice hall in Helsinki and their support is my long time friends Cannibal Corpse and with them is the mercher Robin who’s just as cool as they come. After killing some hours at a bar me, Joinus, our soundtech Fabricio and the Unleashed guys head into the venue where Cannibal is just up on stage. "This one goes out to all the ladies - Fucked with a knife!!!" George hollers from the stage. Hahaha I love you man! Great going! After watching COB´s over the top show with pyros, flame throwers and insane lights to accompany their power-death shreds we head to the after party. So good to hang with the Cannibals again, I and Corpsegrinder talks so loud and fast to each other people around us don’t bother trying to join the conversation. "Man, are you on cocaine or something?" Fabricio shakes his head at me. The COB are a cool bunch of guys, we’re enjoying ourselves drinking with the 250 people who’s invited to the backstage party before me, Joinus and Anders from Unleashed heads out to the nightclubs to finish the night.



Joinus:
For being a country that drinks so much their rules of where you can drink is very strange. At the ice hall we go to buy some beer. But you can't take it ten meters from where you buy it. Even though they have another beer stand these ten meters away. So I do the old "high school trick" and put the beer can in my inner pocket of the jacket. But like I said, this is the country for drinking and the guards know every trick in the book. So as I try to look slick and pass the guard he stops me and looks in pocket....so much for those old tricks. Better come up with some new ones.
At the bar, after the show I hook up with an old friend whom I grew up with. And this only makes me realize again how small the world is. We have a blast at the bar me, Legion, Anders and Samueli from Finntroll and after a couple of hours of drinking we head on to the only kebab place open at 6 o'clock in the morning.

Emil:
I wasn’t as tough as the others, I took an evening stroll with my fucked up knee together with Tomas and Carl but he decided to go to a casino so we headed back to the bus just to have a really bad internet connection in the bus and an in general pretty relaxing but boring evening.



Carl:
Death metal and booze or poker at the casino, tough call. But I decided I'll get enough of gigs and drinking so I spend the evening at the Grand Casino. The stakes translated into Swedish currencies are ten times higher in Sweden so out of habit I accidentally make a 60 euro rise instead of a 6 euro raise. Ooops! Could have put me in a tight spot if I was called or raised there. Everybody folds. Phew! After that I quickly learn how to say "six" in Finnish. Better stick to the metal and booze for the rest of the tour...
