PART 3 - ...OF FINNTROLLS N' ILLFATED GODS! HAMMER BATTALION NORTH TOUR 2009
2nd of March - Helsinki
- Finland
Venue:
Nosturi
Joinus:
Playing day again, finally!!!! We sit and hang out in the
backstage and hear this band rehearsing next door. Turns out
its H.I.M. and my schoolgirl alter ego wake up and I hang
out in the hall until the guys show up....hahaha!!! Not
really...
After the show we hook up again with Samueli and Mikael from
Finntroll. Me, Emil, Tomas, Carl and Anders go with them to
the bar as the bus ain't leaving until 9 AM in the morning.
Thanks a lot for showing us the best side of Helsinki
guys!!!! Cheers!!!
Emil:
Yeah, H.I.M is one of my favorite bands rock bands so it was
pretty cool to hear them rehearse in the hallway.
Carl:
HIM sucks. Sorry, but it's true. Only a twelve year old emo
girl who doesn't know any better would think otherwise. Says
something about you, Emil, I guess. Listening to them
rehearsing the same annoying keyboard blip-blop riff over
and over again just made my brain hurt.
Emil:
Apparently Amorphis is sharing rehearsal room with them;
damn this city reeks of talented bands! It was awesome to
meet up with Finntrollīs Mikael and Samueli; I haven’t seen
them in 3 years or so! Thanks for showing us the city and
joining us on the bus to 6 in the morning! Oh, and my knee
is now 100% back to it’s kicking capacity which makes me
really glad.
Legion:
Fuck me dead I’m so tired today. I fall asleep in the
backstage, wake up to do an interview, say hi and what’s up
to Reima from Impaled Nazarene and fall asleep again before
the show. It’s funny how the body works, I’m feeling like
I’m under water the whole day and then I just walk up on
stage and explode. We’re having a great show and a killer
going onstage. Sweating backstage after a shower I pass out
again on the couch till Tomas comes and wakes me up, the
place is closing. I stumble like a zombie onto the bus and
falls asleep again, waking up at 3 PM the next day.
Tomas:
Haha... like the other guys said, H.I.M were rehearsing next
to the backstage today. Me and Carl were making jokes the
whole day that it must be a poor copycat of H.I.M and we
laughed our asses off when we found out that it actually
were them. Today's show was fucking great! Finally I did
some stage tricks that I have wanted to try for very long!!!
During “When the Vultures have left” I let people play on my
guitar in the crowd and I threw the guitar up in the air at
the end of the song AND caught it hahaha, lucky me!!! Nice
to catch up wit Satu och Kimmo again, thanks for showing up
and giving us your support! After the show I went with
Finntroll and the other guys to drink at some bars, damn
nice country that keeps the booze comin' even during the
week days!
3rd of March - Turku
- Finland
Venue:
Klubi
Tomas:
Turku is a place where my grandfather used to hang out back
in the days when he and his family lived in Finland. So... I
really had to explore this town. Me and Emil went for a nice
walk after breakfast. Tonight I dedicated my performance on
the stage to the last survivor from the Gypsy bus on the
Winterfest tour - Vacek. Emil and me went total Gypsy on
stage and Vacek caught it on tape, haha I have to get my
hands on that tape! A special cheer to all the bangers in
the front row!!!
Legion:
Our drum tech Vacek has a special treat for Emil today - he
has rigged the sound so the only thing Emil hears during our
opening Mask of Virtue is kick drum and the first tom,
everything else, haha I mean everything - guitars, vocals,
bass and the rest of Emil’s drums is muted!! Hahaha!!!
Joinus:
Relaxing day today. Just hang out and drink a few beers,
waiting to play. A bit strange venue with the beer drinking
people having to stand behind a fence while at the floor in
front of the stage you're not allowed to bring beer. So a
big hail to the front row bangers supporting us. And for you
guys who stood in the bar drinking beer...well hails to you
too. At least you have the decency to drink while you watch
us!!!!
Emil:
Hmm...don’t know if I can agree with you Jonas, it felt
pretty stupid to play to a crowd on the side at the bar; a
divided crowd isn’t a good crowd. Pretty lame day in
general, lots of stairs to carry all the equipment and the
backstage was barely enough for one band, we are three on
this tour...The only good thing about this day was a castle
that I saw walking through town with Tomas.
Carl:
Yeah, the deal with the fence around the bar was a weird
thing. I had a blast on stage though! Seemed like the guys
at the front row had a blast too!
